Organisms (2009-)
A
piece of dough kneaded over time. Each turn of the dough produced a new
form that was then photographed. The first three Organisms are
associated with the three arrangements of The Bakery of Blok and the
Three Forms of Unit.
Within the installation the fashioned wooden objects are seen as the
result of an authorial intention projected from within the
form, as if the interior thoughts of the dough have materialized into
wooden sculpture.
Referencing the structure of metaphor created for The
Bakery of Blok, dough operates as a stand in for the subjects of memory
and pure thought. Each turn/handling of the dough develops a different
form from a material that is continually absorbing memory through
touch. A kind of organic production of a sculptural form that is
contingent on use. One idea/thought for one photo.
